Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Drag. Drop. Adjust. Download.

No embroidery experience needed. No software to install. Open StitchFast in your browser, upload an image, tweak the settings, and download production-ready stitch files in under 60 seconds.

Step 01

Drop your design

Drag and drop any PNG, JPG, or SVG directly into the upload zone. Your image previews instantly in the left panel. No file size forms, no account gates — just drop it in.

Logos, text, artwork, badges, patches — anything you want to turn into stitches. Clean images with solid colours and transparent backgrounds produce the best results.

Step 02

AI analyses your design

The moment your image uploads, AI scans it and breaks it down into distinct colour regions. For each region it recommends a stitch type (fill, satin, or running), calculates the optimal stitch angle, and matches every colour to a real Madeira Rayon thread code.

This is what separates StitchFast from auto-tracers. It doesn't just trace outlines — it analyses the design the way a professional digitizer would.

Step 03

Adjust your settings

You have full control over the digitizing parameters. Set your hoop size, adjust fill density, change stitch length, choose your underlay type, and dial in pull compensation. Every slider updates in real time.

Don't know what any of this means? The defaults work well for most designs. Experienced digitizers can fine-tune every parameter.

Hoop: 4×4" to 14×14"
Density: 2–8 lines/mm
Stitch length: 1.5–5mm
Pull compensation: 0–1mm

Step 04

Hit Digitize

One click. StitchFast processes every colour region — generating underlay stitches first for fabric stability, then tatami fill stitches for coverage, then outline stitches for crisp edges. A live progress bar and log show exactly what's happening.

The engine calculates stitch paths, applies pull compensation to every fill area, respects max stitch lengths, and inserts proper jump and trim commands between colours.

Step 05

Preview and simulate

The stitch preview shows every stitch path rendered on a virtual hoop with grid lines. Switch to the Simulate tab to watch the design stitch out in real time — colour by colour, stitch by stitch — with adjustable playback speed.

The Threads tab lists every colour with its Madeira Rayon code and stitch count. The Log tab shows the full processing output for debugging.

FAQ

Common Questions

Questions about the StitchFast workflow.

No. StitchFast runs entirely in your web browser. Nothing to download or install. Works on any device — desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone.

PNG, JPG, and SVG. PNG with a transparent background produces the cleanest results. SVG vector files convert with the highest accuracy.

Max colours (2–16), hoop size (4×4" to 14×14"), fill density (2–8 lines/mm), stitch length (1.5–5mm), underlay type (none, light, full), and pull compensation (0–1mm). Defaults work well for most designs.

Most designs process in under 60 seconds. Complex multi-colour designs may take slightly longer. You see real-time progress throughout.

Yes. The Preview tab shows every stitch path on a virtual hoop grid. The Simulate tab plays the design back stitch by stitch with adjustable speed. The Threads tab shows each Madeira colour code with stitch counts.

DST (Tajima), PES (Brother/Babylock), JEF (Janome/Elna), EXP (Melco), VP3 (Husqvarna Viking), HUS (Husqvarna), and XXX. All formats included with every conversion.
