Hatch levels explained

Which Hatch Embroidery level do you need?

Hatch comes in four tiers and it's easy to over- or under-buy. Here's what each level actually adds — and how to tell which one fits.

Quick answer

Hatch Embroidery comes in four levels. Organizer views, resizes, recolours and converts existing designs. Personalizer adds lettering and monograms. Composer adds one-click auto-digitizing and editing. Digitizer adds full manual digitizing, appliqué and PhotoStitch. Most people who want to turn artwork into stitches need Composer or Digitizer. If you only want logos digitized without picking a tier at all, StitchFast does it in the browser from £3.50.

The four Hatch levels

Each Hatch level builds on the one below it, so you're really deciding how far up the ladder you need to go. The two lower tiers work with designs you already have; the two upper tiers create designs from artwork.

LevelWhat it addsBest for
OrganizerView, resize, recolour, convertManaging designs you already own
Personalizer+ Lettering & monogramsAdding names and text
Composer+ One-click auto-digitizingCreating designs without manual work
Digitizer+ Manual digitizing, appliqué, PhotoStitchFull control and photo embroidery

Which level do you need to digitize?

This is the key question. If you want to turn an image or logo into stitches, you need at least Composer, which adds one-click auto-digitizing. Organizer and Personalizer can't digitize at all — they only work with existing designs.

Step up to Digitizer if you want full manual control, appliqué, or PhotoStitch photo embroidery. For most people creating their own designs, the real choice is between Composer and Digitizer.

Upgrading later

You don't have to get it right first time. Hatch lets you start at a lower level and upgrade by paying only the difference, without losing any work — so it's reasonable to start where you are and move up as your needs grow. See Hatch pricing for the numbers.

Or skip the tiers entirely

If the reason you're comparing levels is simply that you want logos and artwork digitized, you can skip the decision. StitchFast is a single tool with one capability — upload an image, the AI digitizes it, you download the file — for £3.50, with no level to choose and nothing to install.

See how it compares on the Hatch alternative page.
